Well, our cross country season is over. This past week we drove up to Salt Lake to watch Chase run in his first State meet. He left Tuesday at noon on the bus. He was so excited he was giddy. I took him to the store to buy some fruit and stuff for his cooler and gave him $17 to take. We left around 5 and drove to Provo for the night. We took all the kids. Wes thought it would be good for Parker to see how state is and to help get fired up for it. We thought it was supposed to start at 11 and we wanted to be a little early. We hurried through breakfast and left all our dishes, beds unmade and stuff not packed. I was thinking maybe 4A and 5A. Boy were we stupid!. It started at 11:30 with 1A girls! Chases' race was the second to last race at 3:30! We sat in that park for 6 hours! Abigail had finally had it and started beating up Mallory. It was so funny. But it was a beautiful day and fun to be there. Next though, we will have a leisurely breakfast, go bowling and then go to his meet.
Ya, he was excited. He ended up with a time of 17:57. Not his best but it is a minute faster than what he started at the beginning of the season. He started out this race dead last. He coach told him to not go out real fast and then die in the end. So he took that pretty literal and started slow. For the first mile he was last! Wes was irritated and said "Is this what I drove all this way for! Then the next we saw of him he was third on his team. He ended up fourth on his team. Near the end they come onto the track at Highland High, Chase came flying around! He was hauling! As he came across the finish line, in true Chase fashion, he started pumpin his arm. He was so excited that he just ran in his first state meet. I was proud of him.
